Joe the GOP Consultant?
Just when you didn’t think it could get any worse, it has. Our party has officially become a punchline. No longer content with obstructionism, we have now brought in the One to Save Our Party. No, silly. Not Sarah Palin. The true GOP Savior. House Republicans invited Joe the Plumber to meet with them in order to discuss strategy and how to fix the economy. That’s right. They invited him. Joe the Plumber, Joe the Campaigner, Joe the Pundit, Joe the War Correspondent, is now Joe the Economic Wizard and GOP Consultant.
God help our Party.
We once were the party of big ideas and intellectual thought, but apparently now, folksy opinion now trumps facts and intelligence.
Some days I feel like we are watching a slow motion train wreck as they look for the next quick fix gimmick.
Sigh.
David K. Sayers

Or a slow motion BRAIN wreck. William F. must be spinning in his grave right now.
This from politico today:
Wesley Denton, communications director for Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.), whose office coordinates the group, said, “I think staffers were happy to have him there and hear his perspective. He’s an interesting person for staffers to hear from, and it certainly helps us get an understanding about how the stimulus debate is playing out in the country with regular folks.”
How can these people keep a straight face.
John do you think the person that had to issue that statement went and threw up afterward?
How truly demoralizing. I don’t know what is worse, staffers having to be brought up to speed on an average joe’s perspective or that or that they expect to learn something from this man.
I heard tonight that Joe the Samuel was asked after the meeting if he was considering running for office, and he said that he wasn’t sure if the American people deserved him.
No, no we don’t Joe…trust me on that!
There are plenty of working-class Republicans who are actually smart. Why couldn’t the GOP find a few of them?
The fact that anyone (including Joe himself) would feel he is qualified to be giving advice or opinions just shows how low our media culture has sunk.
Andy Warhol said that in the future everyone would be famous for 15 minutes.
Could someone explain to me why Joe’s 15 minutes are not up yet
We all know that our hopes are shot for winning the presidency in 2012. Knowing this, I get a real kick out of watching the party swoon over Sarah Palin and Joe the Plumber. These are the faces that they think average folks will relate to, and that really shows what the elite in the Republican Party think of the middle class. Let Sarah Palin run in 2012, and let Joe the Plumber run for Vice President. Let’s see what excuses the GOP comes up with when Obama puts up election numbers we haven’t seen since 1984. Maybe then we’ll get serious about rebuilding the party.
